All Ages
These days Chiropractic is endorsed by elite athletes seeking optimal performance, and used by all ages from 0 to 99! No matter your age or condition, there is a Chiropractic technique that can restore function in your spine and extremity joints, utilizing very gentle methods where indicated. Even patients with osteoporosis can experience significant results from Chiropractic care.
Pregnancy
Pregnancy results in rapid growth, ligament laxity and changes in weight bearing, which very frequently results in mechanical back pain. Chiropractic is safe for all stages of pregnancy as modified techniques are used to ensure patient comfort. A properly functioning low back and pelvis is essential for a normal delivery!
Babies and Infants
The first trauma the spine is subjected to is the birth process, followed by numerous childhood falls and injuries. Colic, unexplained crying, poor appetite, breathing problems, allergic reactions, bed wetting, learning difficulties and recurring infections can often be traced back to a compromised nervous system. Specialised minimal force adjusting techniques are used for babies and infants.
Scoliosis, (a sideways curvature of the spine), often starts in childhood and is usually of no known cause. However early detection and appropriate care really helps the developing spine, so school children should be checked, and symptoms not dismissed as “growing pains”.
Chiropractic care can help ensure that young bodies continue to mature safely, and that older bodies maintain maximum mobility for the rest of their lives.
A recent Swedish study showed that Chiropractic patients expressed other positive reactions such as easier breathing, improved eyesight or hearing, better digestion, and positive changes in heart rate and/or blood pressure.

NZ Royal Commission of Inquiry
The NZ Royal Commission of Inquiry found:
- Chiropractic is a branch of the healing arts specialising in the correction by spinal manual therapy of what chiropractors identify as biomechanical disorders of the spinal column. They carry out spinal diagnosis and therapy at a sophisticated and refined level.
- Chiropractors are the only health practitioners who are necessarily equipped by their education and training to carry out spinal manual therapy.
- Spinal manual therapy in the hands of a registered Chiropractor is safe.
- Spinal manual therapy can be effective in relieving musculo-skeletal symptoms such as back pain, and other symptoms known to respond to such therapy, such as migraine.
- Chiropractors should, in the public interest, be accepted as partners in the general health care system. No other health professional is as well qualified by his general training to carry out diagnosis for spinal mechanical dysfunction or to perform spinal manual therapy.
- The responsibility for spinal manual therapy training, because of its specialized nature should lie with the Chiropractic profession. Part-time or vacation courses in spinal manual therapy for other health professionals should not be encouraged.
